On Friday, December 14th, Ishizaka Gijuku held a special open lecture on the following topic.

Japanese Sign Language is a “language” that is expressed with the hands and body and understood by sight, and is an important means of communication for everyone, not just those with hearing impairments. Sign language is not universal.
First, learn the words you commonly use in your daily life in Japanese Sign Language, which will help you communicate with people with disabilities and understand Japanese Sign Language.

Takanami Misuzu (President of NPO UPTAIN)
Born in Shiga Prefecture and from a deaf family. Traveled to the US and Europe to promote Japanese Sign Language, where she conducts research on deaf story psychology, bilingual education, and sign language.
Currently works for the Duskin Asia Pacific Disability Leadership Development Program, the NPO Sign Language Proficiency Certification Association, and as a sign language certification examiner. She is also
active as a sign language model for Chiharu Tani’s books “Learn Your First Sign Language with DVD” and “Compact Sign Language Dictionary Useful in Everyday Life,” and as an ASL and international sign language deaf interpreter.
