Memorandum of Understanding signed with Lahti County, Finland
In February 2017, we signed a memorandum of friendship with Lahti County, Finland, with whom we have had long-standing exchanges. Japan and Finland share a common cultural view of loving nature and healing the soul in nature.
On the occasion of the signing of this memorandum, we interviewed Lahti County Governor Jari Parkkonen, who we would like to introduce to you.
■Introduction to Lahti County, Finland
Lahti County, located about 100 km north of the capital Helsinki, has a population of about 200,000. Although it is inland, the port city of Lahti along the lake is known as a city of sports and culture, where international events are held and where urban and rural atmospheres blend together in a natural environment.
