Facility Tour and Training Program

As interest in the shift toward a circular society continues to grow, a new concept beyond mere “sustainability” has been attracting global attention in recent years. That is: “regeneration” and “circularity.”

Through our businesses in waste resource recovery and satoyama conservation and regeneration, we are committed to addressing environmental issues head-on and bringing to life a story only we can tell. To date, around 5,000 people a year have participated in our programs, ranging from a wide variety of companies and organizations to schools and individuals, and coming not only from across Japan but also from countries around the world. In 2025, we renewed the program in order to deliver an even deeper look into our initiatives in regeneration and circularity.

The insights that each of you gains can be described as the first step toward building a circular society. Through the program, we hope that you will discover clues for what companies, organizations, schools, and individuals can do to help move us toward a circular society.

[Circulation Design Master] Basic Course (Held regularly every month / 4 hours)

By walking through our state-of-the-art resource recycling facility and the biodiversity-rich satoyama, Santome Konjakumura, participants learn about “circularity” and “regeneration” through all five senses.
Insights gained during the visit are then organized in a post-tour workshop and translated into concrete action plans for each participant.
This is our most popular course, offering a comprehensive understanding of Ishizaka’s initiatives as a whole.

Case Studies

Tokyu Corporation

■Networking Reception
Over the course of a full day, participants engaged with our initiatives and stories through a shared learning experience designed to deepen employees’ interest in environmental issues. Following the program, we also hosted a networking reception as an opportunity for internal exchange, where participants shared insights and reflections from the experience.
Purpose of the Visit
The program was utilized as an opportunity to raise environmental awareness across all employees and to strengthen internal collaboration on environmental initiatives, with the aim of enhancing the quality of life for customers living along the Tokyu railway lines.
Customer Feedback
・The tour was far more fulfilling than I had imagined. I have participated in training programs at many different locations, but this one is likely to be the most memorable.
・No initiative can move forward unless employees feel a sense of growth and purpose. This training truly reinforced that realization for me, and I was deeply inspired by everyone involved.

Chuo University Suginami Senior High School

■Pre-class Session
For the first time, our company employee visited the school to conduct a preparatory class before the fieldwork. Designed to align with the inquiry-based learning theme, the session provided input on Miyoshi Town's history and the students' own local history and industries, aiming to enable deeper insights during the fieldwork.
Purpose of the Visit
Students participated in the program as a fieldwork activity for first-year high school students enrolled in the SDGs course within Integrated Inquiry Studies. Following last year’s theme, “Eco-Farm,” students explored this year’s theme, “Places Where People Gather,” through a multisensory learning experience, including visits to both the factory and the satoyama.
Customer Feedback
I was surprised to learn that only 2% of industrial waste is sent to final disposal sites, and I was impressed by the level of ingenuity involved. I felt that sustainability is not just about contributing to the environment, but about gaining understanding from the local community and conveying the importance of environmental conservation to younger generations—so that no one is left behind.

Fukoku Mutual Life Insurance Company

■Employee Session
Following an executive talk by our Managing Director on Ishizaka’s approach to human capital development in the era of human capital management, we designed a session for group-based discussions with our employees, encouraging an exchange of ideas.
Purpose of the Visit
The program was attended as a training opportunity for employees in their sixth and seventh years since joining the company. With the aim of fostering a mindset for change among employees, we would like the tour to be designed from the perspectives of organizational transformation and human resource development.
Customer Feedback
During the employee session, we clearly felt each individual’s strong sense of pride and attachment to the company, as well as how deeply the management philosophy has been embedded. We were also deeply impressed by how employees take social and corporate challenges as their own, acting proactively—something we strongly felt we should learn from.

KOKUYO Co., Ltd.

■Circularity Workshop
Through the tour, participants discussed the concept of “circularity” as observed at our company and explored what “circularity” could look like at KOKUYO. An ideation workshop was conducted to generate ideas that could serve as insights for sustainable manufacturing initiatives.
Purpose of the Visit
With the aim of shifting KOKUYO’s business toward a circular model, we have formed a cross-functional team to advance initiatives toward a circular society. We visited the site to create an opportunity for team members to reflect together on what circularity means, why it is necessary, and how far KOKUYO should go in pursuing it.
Customer Feedback
There are cases where customers ask us, when replacing office furniture, “Is there any way this can be reused or repurposed?” While we do create things together with our customers, we found the idea of creating solutions alongside professionals in waste processing to be particularly intriguing.
