Ishizaka Organic Farm will release its first picture book, “Inside the Earth,” on World Soil Day 2022 (#WorldSoilDay).
Ishizaka Organic Farm’s website has also been completely revamped.
This year, the members-only experience farm ReDAICHI and the Naya Saryo MEGURU teahouse also opened.
Ishizaka Organic Farm, an affiliated agricultural corporation of Ishizaka Sangyo Co., Ltd. (Head office: Miyoshi-cho, Saitama Prefecture; Representative Director: Noriko Ishizaka; hereinafter “Ishizaka Sangyo”), was reborn today, on World Soil Day. Further developing its long-standing theme of cultivating organic fixed-seeded vegetables with a focus on soil, the farm has released its first picture book, “In the Earth,” as part of a wide-ranging initiative to create new value through a focus on soil, encouraging people to enjoy and connect with it. Ishizaka Organic Farm’s website has also been completely revamped.

Today, December 5th, marks World Soil Day, established by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), a specialized agency of the United Nations. Ishizaka Organic Farm participates in this international day, which advocates the importance of healthy soil and the sustainable management of soil resources. We are engaged in global environmental education activities, including offering soil-based environmental education workshops, to teach about the global environment through hands-on experiences.
■About the picture book “Tsuchino Nakani” (Inside the Earth)
Ishizaka Organic Farm is a farm that cultivates organic fixed-seed vegetables with a focus on soil. Ishizaka Sangyo, which operates this farm, strives to recycle all waste materials. Having witnessed the increasing burden on soil caused by landfill waste, we have created a “Soil Textbook” that conveys this message. It is
said that 95% of our food comes from soil, making the soil beneath our feet an essential part of human life. In recent years, many of the things we need for a fulfilling life are made from complex materials containing chemicals. These wastes, when dumped in landfills, place a heavy burden on the soil, disrupting the balance of the ecosystem and disrupting its cycle. We

want more people to understand what we receive from the soil and how restoring it through our daily lives contributes to human health. With this in mind, Ishizaka staff, along with experts and a creative team, spent approximately one year creating this book. While enjoyable as a standard picture book, it also includes detailed explanations of soil and the function of bacteria, expanding the enjoyment possibilities as children grow.
It also offers a profound insight into the mysteries of soil for adults as well as children. We’ve even included an English translation so that it can be enjoyed by people overseas. We hope this book will provide an opportunity for many people to learn about the mysteries of soil.

■ Message from the Recommender:
Kiyoshi Yamazawa, Agriculture and Beekeeping Instructor:
“Give children the ability to see the invisible.”
The balance of the soil is maintained by a cycle in which organisms in the soil care for, help, and share with one another, passing on life to the next. When the soil is healthy, the plants above ground will also be healthy, and the humans who eat them will also be healthy. Please teach your children about this relationship.
Yuji Seki, Agricultural Consultant
: “Learn more about the soil around you.”
Soil is a natural substance that is close to us, but it is not often covered in school education, and many people do not know what it is. Furthermore, the microorganisms in the soil play an important role, similar to our intestinal environment. If this balance is disrupted, it can have a negative impact on aboveground plants.

From “buying” to “growing.” Agriculture starts not with sowing seeds, but with preparing the soil. Using the power of nature, we create soil that is rich in microorganisms. You can grow vegetables and experience the blessings of the earth while touching the soil and feeling the breeze. We provide thorough support from soil preparation to sowing, planting seedlings, and harvesting. Guidance from agricultural advisors is also available, so even beginners can feel at ease. Please visit our new website for application details.
