Participation in the 30 by 30 Alliance for Biodiversity

Ishizaka Sangyo Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Iruma-gun, Saitama Prefecture; Representative Director: Noriko Ishizaka; hereinafter “Ishizaka Sangyo”) joined the 30 by 30 Alliance for Biodiversity, which was launched in April of this year.

30 by 30 (Thirty by Thirty) is a goal to effectively conserve more than 30% of land and ocean ecosystems as healthy ecosystems by 2030, in line with the goal pledged at the G7 Summit in June 2021 to “conserve and protect at least 30% of a country’s terrestrial and marine areas by 2030.” The Alliance was established as a voluntary coalition of government agencies, companies, NPOs, and other organizations, with the aim of building a system to achieve the 30 by 30 goal domestically. To date, more than 200 organizations have participated.
Participants are expected to register their properties and areas under their jurisdiction in the International OECM (tentative name: Eco-Friendly Site) database, support the management of registered areas, and actively publicize their efforts.

Based on the traditional management of local satoyama, our company has promoted the conservation of biodiversity by promoting the circulation, conservation, and restoration of satoyama through logging and regeneration, and by receiving the highest rank of “AAA” in the JHEP certification by the Ecosystem Conservation Society-Japan (a public interest incorporated foundation). Furthermore, by opening the “Santome Konjaku Village Kunugi Forest” to the public, we are providing visitors with a comfortable and relaxing space and a place for hands-on environmental education where they can interact with nature. By participating in this alliance, we will continue to strive to simultaneously conserve biodiversity, preserve the beautiful satoyama landscape that provides health and healing, and function as a place for hands-on environmental education. We will also work to evaluate the climate change mitigation function of forests through carbon dioxide absorption and fixation, further contributing to the creation of value as green infrastructure for satoyama and the creation of a circular society.
