Learn and experience at the “Living with SATOYAMA EXPO” – A day to think about the future of the Earth in a satoyama regenerated from a mountain of illegally dumped garbage
Ishizaka Sangyo will be holding the “Living with SATOYAMA EXPO” event on Sunday, April 26th, where visitors can think about the future of the Earth.
Ishizaka Sangyo collected the mountains of illegally dumped garbage, preserved the forest, and restored the area as a lush, green satoyama (village woodland) teeming with biodiversity. Today, the satoyama is open to the public as Santome Konjaku Village, a sustainable field covering an area the size of four Tokyo Domes, and is visited by 40,000 people annually as a place for environmental education.

This time, the “Living with SATOYAMA EXPO” will be held at Mitomi Past and Present Village, and various programs related to the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) will be implemented, such as talk shows by prominent figures from various fields, numerous experiential projects themed on “living beautifully with nature,” and workshops where people can experience the blessings of nature amidst the fresh greenery. In addition, there will be a food and market with the keywords of local production and consumption and organic, professional and amateur performances with the cooperation of local people, a factory tour of Ishizaka Sangyo, and more, making it a day where people of all ages can have fun while thinking about and experiencing environmental and social issues.
As an industrial waste disposal company, we can speak about the impact that waste issues have on nature and the environment, and as a company that has been preserving satoyama and coexisting with the local community for many years, we want many people to know about the role we must play for the future, and by acting together, we aim to realize a sustainable society.
