Received the Satoyama Innovation Award at the 17th Corporate Philanthropy Awards

We are pleased to announce that Ishizaka Sangyo has received the Satoyama Innovation Award at the 17th Corporate Philanthropy Awards, sponsored by the Japan Philanthropy Association.

This award recognizes social contribution activities that organically and sustainably utilize a company’s management resources (human resources, know-how, technology, information, etc.) to solve social issues. The award was established in 2003 with the aim of passing on a fair, warm, and vibrant society to future generations. This year’s award recognizes environmental conservation activities, including those at Mitomi Konjaku Mura, which is operated by our company.

Reasons for the award

The company views its industrial waste disposal business as an energy supply and recycling business, and is working with other companies in the industry to promote initiatives for a recycling-oriented society and environmental education. In order to foster understanding of the local community regarding its business, the company has redesigned its facilities so that no waste is discharged outdoors, and has installed observation paths to increase transparency. It has also established the Mitomi Past and Present Village (JHPA AAA certified) as a place for environmental experience programs and for local residents to interact. With the help of land provided by neighboring landowners, the company now manages an area of land the size of four Tokyo Domes, and is cultivating a forest that attracts people while maintaining biodiversity. The company was recognized for its efforts to restore the satoyama forest as a shared regional asset, based on trust with residents.

*JHPA certification: Evaluates and certifies efforts that contribute to the conservation and restoration of biodiversity. AAA is the highest rank.

Going forward, all employees will continue to work together to promote environmental activities, cherishing our company slogan, “Living beautifully with nature,” in order to realize a sustainable society.
