The 35th “Excellent Manager Award” winners have been announced
At the 35th Annual Outstanding Manager Awards, which are held by the Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun to recognize outstanding managers of medium-sized and small businesses, our company representative, Noriko Ishizaka, received both the Outstanding Manager Award and the 35th Anniversary Special Award.
The award recipient is selected by a selection committee (chaired by Masahiro Sakane, Komatsu’s advisor) from candidates recommended by financial institutions across the country.
The reason for the award was that the company pursued “technology that does not produce waste” because it is needed in the local area, and as a result achieved the industry’s highest level of waste reduction and recycling rate of 98%. In addition, the company was recognized for its unconventional management practices, such as developing the Satoyama area around the company and using it as a place for interaction with the local community and environmental education.

In his acceptance speech, he said, “We will continue to put into practice our corporate slogan, ‘Living Beautifully with Nature.’ We hope to continue to be a company that is useful to society through our business.”
The award ceremony will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2018, at the Keidanren Kaikan in Otemachi, Tokyo.
