Our experiential learning was featured in the Circular Economy Newspaper

The Circulation Economy Newspaper featured an article about an ESD (environmental education) training session conducted by the Ministry of the Environment for local government officials from across the country.

In previous years, the training has mainly consisted of lectures and case studies, but this year’s training was based on the themes of “experience” and “corporate potential,” and was a completely new experience for participants to try out for themselves.
By using their five senses to gain hands-on experience, participants were able to take what they learned back home and put it into action.

On the day, the officials had the opportunity to experience a variety of things at a recycling factory and Kunugi Forest, which have been certified as “places for experience opportunities*1,” and they said they hope to use these experiences in their future official duties.

We will continue to work to help as many people as possible understand the importance of experience in environmental education.

*1 Experience Opportunity Place: A system in which prefectural governors certify businesses that engage in experience activities that create opportunities for people to interact with living things in a rich natural environment, as well as environmental activities such as resource recycling. Our company’s “Kunugi Forest Environmental School” was certified as the first experience opportunity place by the Saitama Prefectural Governor in 2012.
