At the “Living with SATOYAMA EXPO” held on April 23rd (Sat) and 24th (Sun), we had a lecture by John Hardy, who is working on “environmental education to nurture future leaders.” The lecture has been published in his email newsletter and on his blog.

◼︎Revisiting Ishizaka Sangyo to Open New Community Center
My reason for returning to Japan was to speak at an event hosted by Ishizaka Sangyo, a Saitama-based company that recycles 95% of construction waste. Ishizaka Sangyo holds land in trust around their recycling facility and is reforesting it. They also support the agricultural sector around the facility, promoting organic farming. Ishizaka Sangyo has completed a traditional Japanese-style community center with a beautiful garden, and held an opening ceremony during this year’s Satoyama Living Expo. If you haven’t read my blog about the facility, please do so here. I hope to return to Ishizaka Sangyo as soon as possible, and this time build an entirely bamboo building. (Our translation)
