Ishizaka Organic Farm

We create soil rich in diversity without contaminating the ground with waste. Carrying forth the local traditional circular farming method in our company farm.

To Pass On Rich Soil and a Rich Culture

Our company-owned farm, the Ishizaka Organic Farm, cultivates locally rooted open-pollinated vegetable varieties without the use of chemical fertilizers or pesticides.
By carrying on the region’s traditional circular farming method known as “Musashino Leaf Compost Farming” (recognized in 2023 as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System), we aim to restore soil in which a wide diversity of microorganisms create nutrients through the power of nature.
Japan is globally known for the richness of its water and soil. Since ancient times, people have lived their lives with gratitude for these natural blessings. However, that sense of gratitude has gradually faded, and today nearly half of Japan’s industrial waste consists of vast amounts of soil and mud.
As professionals in circulation, Ishizaka Inc. is committed to the regeneration of rich soil and, in turn, the regeneration of a rich culture of living.

Features of Ishizaka Organic Farm

Cultivation of Open-Pollinated Vegetables
At the Ishizaka Organic Farm, approximately 90% of the vegetables we grow are carefully selected open-pollinated varieties that have been rooted in the local region for generations. Adapted to the local climate and natural conditions and preserved through on-farm seed saving, each open-pollinated vegetable has its own unique character. While these varieties require considerable care and effort to cultivate, the time and attention invested allow them to grow into deeply flavorful vegetables that capture the true essence of their natural taste.
Carrying On the “Musashino Leaf Compost Farming” Method
In the Santome area, a traditional circular farming method that uses fallen leaves as compost has been practiced since the Edo period, and was recognized in 2023 as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System. The Ishizaka Organic Farm carries on this “Musashino Leaf Compost Farming” method. By using compost made from fallen leaves collected on the premises, we activate a wide variety of microorganisms and nurture soil that is rich in nutrients.

Experiences Offered by Ishizaka Inc.

Experiential Farm “ReDAICHI”
Rather than starting from sowing seeds, participants can gain hands-on experience with circular agriculture by beginning with soil preparation, guided by agricultural advisors. By composting vegetable scraps and weeds to return them to the soil, participants can learn the joy of growing vegetables without the use of chemical fertilizers and experience how nutrients circulate naturally.

Internationally Certified Circular Agriculture

GLOBALG.A.P. Certification Obtained
GLOBALG.A.P. is an international standard awarded only to farms that practice sustainable agriculture with consideration not only for the taste of agricultural products, but also for food safety, environmental protection, and working conditions. The Ishizaka Organic Farm achieved this certification in 2017, becoming the second farm in Saitama Prefecture to be certified and the first to receive the certification for vegetable production.
Certified under the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries’ “Organic JAS” Standard
“Organic JAS” is a certification granted to agricultural and forestry products that comply with quality and labeling standards established by the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. It is said that fewer than 0.5% of domestic farmers have obtained this certification. Through agricultural practices that do not rely on pesticides, herbicides, or chemical fertilizers, the Ishizaka Organic Farm obtained Organic JAS certification in 2019.
