Ministry of the Environment sponsors FY2022 Environmental Education Training for Teachers and Staff
Ishizaka Sangyo Co., Ltd. is pleased to announce that it will hold the FY2022 Environmental Education and Learning Promotion Leadership Training Program Design Course for Teachers and Others on Friday, February 10, 2023.
This training, hosted by the Ministry of the Environment and in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), aims to foster leaders who will practice and promote high-quality environmental education and ESD in schools and communities, with the aim of building a sustainable society. Participants will also have the opportunity to experience Ishizaka Sangyo’s experiential activities, interact with people involved in these initiatives, and engage in group work to share their insights with others. In
2013, Ishizaka Sangyo Co., Ltd. was certified as a “Place of Experience Opportunities”*1 under the Environmental Education Promotion Act. As part of its Kunugi Forest Environmental School, the school is widely used for social studies field trips for elementary and junior high schools, as well as for general group and local government tours and corporate training. Within a site approximately the size of 3.8 Tokyo Domes, the school offers experiential environmental education opportunities, including a recycling factory, a satoyama area, the Mitomi Past and Present Storytelling Hall, and the Kunugi Forest Communication Plaza. Last year, approximately 60,000 people used the school’s facilities.

[Topic] Examining the effectiveness of “experience-based” environmental education through case studies
[Venue] Ishizaka Sangyo Co., Ltd. (1589-2 Kamitomi, Miyoshi-machi, Iruma-gun, Saitama)
[Content] We will introduce examples of environmental education programs that make use of local nature and plant facilities, as well as ideas for program design based on ISO 29993. In addition, we will invite teachers from schools who have actually taken the program to participate in the discussion and talk about the program’s effectiveness and the students’ reactions, thereby validating the program.

*1 The “Experience Opportunities” certification system is a
system in which prefectural governors certify facilities that offer experiential activities, such as nature experiences, provided by companies, NPOs, and other organizations, based on the Act on the Promotion of Environmental Conservation through Environmental Education, etc. (Environmental Education Promotion Act). As of January 2023, 28 organizations have been certified as
“Experience Opportunities” that provide experiential activity spaces and programs. *2 The “Experience Opportunities” Research Organization is
a council established by businesses certified as “Experience Opportunities” with the aim of improving the quality of experiential environmental education (Education for Sustainable Development) and developing specialized human resources. An agreement was signed with the Ministry of the Environment on October 26, 2017, and currently 12 organizations are members, working together with the Ministry to expand and enhance the “place for experience opportunities.”
